I decided to make a couple changes. The first change involved adding some extra wire to the contraption. The thin wire wrapped around a node in such a way that it would fall onto the second node, thereby completing the circuit. Then I added seed in such a way that it prevented the wire from falling. Any slight disturbance in the seed will complete the circuit. Poof! A guaranteed short circuit!
Next I added a wire mesh. If the mouse fried itself I wanted the body to stay put. The mesh did not carry an electrical current. It merely served as a body barrier.
